lame on lame violence

so according to this enlightening article from the sydney morning herald (slow news day, australia?) scene kids and emo kids are two different species of bored white suburban kids with way too much time and disposable income on their hands. they also hate each other and enjoy watching people stare at them. it's no wonder people are staring, my 5 year old niece dresses up to play princess and doesn't look NEARLY as ridiculous as these 13 year olds do on a daily basis. so far this misunderstanding about subcultures has not escalated to violence like the punk-emo wars in mexico but one can only hope...

who's to blame for this mess? clearly the internet, or more specifically this wiki-how-to article. and since when is the word "niggz" scene lingo? last i checked that was more than vaguely racist. either i'm old and out of touch or people are really dumb.

wow

i think we can close voting on this year's darwin awards 8 months early. this guy seems to have it locked in.

guav pointed out that the darwin award only applies when you kill yourself via stupidity. i guess the voting is still open and this guy is simply a moron who shouldn't own a gun.

and now i've seen it all

anyone who knows me knows about my affinity for all things r. kelly. this happens to include late-era isley brothers albums (starting with "eternal") and the "mr. biggs" alter ego that r. kelly created for ronald isley. you see, mr. biggs is a gangster, but old school. r. kelly is in love with mr. biggs' woman which starts with the song "down low" and has the story building over several isley brothers and r. kelly records finally resulting in "showdown" on r. kelly's seminal "chocolate factory" album.

somewhere in the middle of this mess appears the song "contagious" which finds mr. biggs returning home one day to find his lady in bed with none other than r. kelly. of course the ensuing music video is amazing but not nearly as amazing as the florda a&m university marching band performing the damn song at a halftime show. are you kidding me?

see you at the crossroads

not sure how bone thugs could miss a show when there's a big sack of fun waiting for them at the end of the rainbow...

from xxlmag.com:
A Los Angeles judge on Thursday (February 28) issued a default judgment against Bone Thugs-N-Harmony after they failed to contest a lawsuit brought against them by a Japanese concert promoter. According to KNBC 4 in L.A., World Mix Entertainment filed suit against the group after they missed two December 2006 concert dates in Nagoya and Okinawa. A contract submitted with the suit confirmed that the promoter had agreed to pay the group $25,000 per show, $10,000 for a photo shoot and cover expenses for travel and promotions. The company also agreed to meet special requests made by the group, such as providing a “big sack of marijuana” and bottles of Hennessey and Miller Genuine Draft beer. When the group failed to board their flight from Los Angeles International Airport, the shows had to be canceled. Since the Ohio based group failed to respond to the suit, U.S. District Judge Dean Pregerson awarded World Mix a total of $205,510.40.

overheard...

there's a great network of websites called overheard in... where people submit little snippits of conversations they hear on the streets. it's been around for a bit but it always cracks my shit up. pretty genius if you ask me.

Big thug #1: ... And I was like, 'No fuckin' way.'
Big thug #2: Yeah, nigga. That shit is like magic.
Big thug #1: I know, nigga. I did it. I went home and I ordered the new Harry Potter from Amazon. That shit came the next day. It was like magic.
